Arbitron Acquires Integrated Radio Systems

Audience measurement giant Arbitron has bought Integrated Radio Systems (IRS), provider of customer relationship management and research software solutions, for $4.5 million in cash. Arbitron intends to use the acquisition to improve the tools and services it offers to radio station clients.

IRS software systems help radio stations manage their advertising sales process. Applications combine a customer relationship management system with scheduling and research applications and inventory/pricing management tools. Owen Charlebois, President, US Media Services at Arbitron says the IRS software solutions are 'an ideal addition to our current portfolio of software services'.

John Poche, President and owner of IRS says he is 'looking forward to being an integral part of the Arbitron team. The increase in resources, training and support we gain with Arbitron will be a huge benefit for our clients.' Poche's new role at Arbitron is VP, Sales Management Software.

IRS is based in New Orleans, but has been operating out of offices in Houston over the last few weeks, having safely transferred essential records and systems.

Arbitron, which developed the Portable People Meter (PPM) technology, is online at www.arbitron.com.
