Pharma Veteran is New Verispan CEO
US healthcare information and research provider Verispan has appointed Wayne P. Yetter, former COO of IMS Health, as its new CEO. Yetter has also worked as CEO of Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Odyssey Pharmaceuticals and Astra Merck, and was most recently the Founder and President of Biopharm Advisory.
Biopharm Advisory helped pharma and life science clients in the areas of disease management, e-business and outsourced hospital pharmacy services.
Yetter began his pharmaceutical career in 1970 as a sales rep for Pfizer, where he also held positions in market research and product management. He joined Merck & Co in 1977 as a product manager, and eventually became VP, Marketing Operations, and VP, Far East/Pacific. In 1991, he was made President/General Manager of Astra Merck, and later served as President and CEO of Astra Merck Inc.
Subsequent jobs have included President and CEO of Odyssey Pharmaceuticals, President and CEO of Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Chairman and CEO of SYNAVANT, and COO of IMS Health Inc. While at IMS, he supported a strategic review that resulted in two divisions of the company forming SYNAVANT.
Dennis Gillings, Co-Chairman of the Verispan Board believes Yetter 'understands the challenges facing the industry today across the entire spectrum of clients - from market research to managed care, brand management, and sales.' Agreeing, Co-Chairman John Hammergren says Yetter's experience will help 'further enhance Verispan's client service and client partnership capabilities'.
