ACNielsen Takes the Reins in Chile

ACNielsen has become the full owner of ACNielsen Chile, purchasing the 49% stake previously held by Cadem, its partner in the country since 1993. The company says the acquisition is part of its commitment to develop its services in key Latin American markets.

ACNielsen entered the Chilean market in June 1993 with its 51% purchase of Cadem, then known as Inversiones Torres del Paine. The purchase agreement included an option for ACNielsen to buy the remaining shares.

ACNielsen President and CEO Steve Schmidt said: 'Full ownership will enable us to build on our momentum in Chile, offering new services to clients, while giving us greater flexibility to provide the regional insights needed by clients in other parts of Latin America'.

The company currently provides syndicated sales tracking information for the CPG industry in Chile. It also operates its Homescan consumer panel in the country, and provides modelling and analytics services.

The company's web site is at www.acnielsen.com . ACNielsen Chile is at www.acnielsen.cl.
