CBS Expands Research Division

In the US, CBS Corporation has created an expanded research division, CBS Vision, with research expert David Poltrack as President. The division will provide research and market intelligence on new technologies and media consumption, and will share information with CBS's businesses and advertisers.

Poltrack has been with CBS since 1969, and was most recently Executive VP of Planning and Research for CBS Television. He will continue to oversee research activities for the network, including audience measurement, market research, programme testing and advertising research. In his new role, he will also take on the titles of Executive VP and Chief Research Officer for CBS Corporation.

Research officers from all the CBS corporate divisions will serve as members of CBS Vision's operating committee. Poltrack explains how the new division will work. 'The CBS research focus has always been on the consumer. CBS Television City, our state-of-the-art research facility in Las Vegas, and the CBS Entertainment Panel provide us with continual feedback from the public. With CBS Vision, we will expand upon these resources to support CBS decision makers as they navigate the emerging direct-to-consumer, on-demand market.'

CBS Corporation President and CEO Leslie Moonves says CBS Vision is a 'strategic way for us to get ahead of all the new technologies and challenges that are facing our industry, and to share our knowledge and these opportunities with our clients and partners'.

CBS, which owns the CBS TV network and book publisher Simon & Schuster, separated from Viacom earlier this month to operate as a stand-alone company, online at www.cbscorporation.com
