NRG Research Expands to Alberta

Canadian NRG Research Group has opened two new offices in Alberta, to be led by Derek Blair, formerly of Ipsos North America. Other new members of staff include food and drink specialist Greg Turner and consultant Rod Love, an expert on politics and the media.

The company, created last year from the merger of Western Opinion Research and Nordic Research Group, has offices in Vancouver, Winnipeg and Toronto, as well as associated offices in Montreal, Halifax and the US. The new Alberta offices are in Calgary and Edmonton.

Blair is joining the company as Senior VP. He will be based in Calgary, and will be in charge of the new Alberta operations. Blair was formerly VP with Ipsos North America's Energy Division, and worked previously as Manager of Market Research at ENMAX, Calgary's electric utility. He holds a PhD in cognitive anthropology from the University of Calgary.

The Edmonton office will be led by Greg Turner, VP, who has specialist knowledge of marketing in the food, beverage and gaming industries. He joins from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation, and was formerly a senior manager with Molson Breweries and Kraft Canada. He is experienced in new product development and testing, branding and corporate image.

Rod Love, President of Rod Love Consulting in Calgary, is joining the company as Senior Advisor to provide advice on strategic planning, business development, and public opinion research. Love is a former Chief of Staff to the Premier of Alberta, and studied political science at Alberta University and Exeter College, Oxford. He is also a graduate of the Banff School of Advanced Management.
