Technology Watch for New Quaestor Director

UK agency Quaestor has created a new Board position, Operations Director, to head up and oversee the development of teams including CATI, DP, Field and IT. Steve Hulmes will add the role to his existing job as MD of sister company Broadnet.

Hulmes' remit will include examining new technologies for research and data collection. He brings over 16 years' experience of IT, systems & business process on both supplier and user sides, having worked for Oracle Corporation and Xicon, and co-founded start up business SysExcel.

Quaestor MD Anne-Marie McDermott says the company aims to utilise Hulmes' extensive knowledge of IT and software systems 'to further develop and embrace the emergent technologies that are ultimately giving market research more teeth.' According to Hulmes, 'Market research is currently in an exciting phase with new technologies giving the discipline more and more tools with which to work. Quaestor has already proven itself in embracing some of the opportunities that are out there and this is evident in its WAPI system. As the methods for market research, data gathering and data delivery grow so too does the requirement for a more integrated team to fully exploit new technology opportunities.'

Quaestor Research and Marketing Strategists was established in 1986 and was acquired by AIM listed marketing services specialist eq group plc in December 2002. It is now one of the fastest growing research agencies in the UK with turnover in excess of £6 million and c. 80 staff at its head office near Leeds.

Yesterday, eq reported an 11% rise in revenues from its MR companies, Quaestor and Buckingham Research, to £10.8m, and a 26% rise in operating profits.
