Ipsos Canada Strengthens Team

Ipsos has announced a number of senior promotions in its growing Western Business Unit in Canada. Promotions include Steve Mossop to President, Market Research Canada West, and Tim Olafson to President, Ipsos Observer.

Mossop, based in the Vancouver office, is responsible for managing Ipsos' sector practice areas in Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, and Seattle, and was recently selected for inclusion in Business in Vancouver's 15th annual 'Top 40 under 40' feature.

Olafson, based in Calgary, was previously Senior Vice President and General Manager of Market Research Canada West. Ipsos Observer is a new North American-based data collection-only service, offering online, telephone, and mail.

There are six other senior promotions:
  • Majid Khoury becomes Senior VP, Ipsos ASI, which he joined in July 2003 with the acquisition of his company TTI Market Explorers.
  • Tim Moro has taken over the responsibilities of managing Ipsos' market research business in Alberta, in addition to his current role as Senior VP, Energy Practice.
  • Paul Lauzon is now Senior VP and MD, Lottery and Gaming Practice, and joins Moro in leading the Calgary management team
  • Dave Pierzchala becomes VP, Travel and Tourism Practice after 11 years at Ipsos
  • Jennifer Fleming has been promoted to Senior Research Manager, Lottery and Gaming Practice, having completed the Ipsos' internship program only two years ago
  • Catherine Gunther becomes Senior Research Manager, Ipsos Public Affairs.
Gary Bennewies, President and Country Manager of Ipsos Canada, attributes the strong growth to 'industry-leading operations capabilities, cutting edge techniques and analytics, and a dedicated team of sector experts in each of our four areas of expertise: advertising, marketing, customer loyalty, and public affairs research'. Bennewies says the promotions reflect the company's 'philosophy of nurturing and developing the potential of our team'.

The company employs 225 researchers and support staff at its Winnipeg, Calgary, Vancouver, and Seattle offices, and recently hired 10 researchers in Calgary and Vancouver.
