Retail analysis giant Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) has appointed John Lawlor as Division President and General Manager of its Panel and Test Solutions business. Lawlor worked for IRI once before, in the early 1990s, but was most recently President of Ipsos-ASI North America.

Before joining Ipsos-ASI, Lawlor was President and CEO of Spectra Companies, a unit of VNU. He joined in 1996 and led its Client Service and Product Development organisations before taking the top job in 2001. Before Spectra, he worked for four years at IRI, finishing as Senior VP of Client Service, responsible for the global leadership of the Unilever business. He began his career at The Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. Heholds undergraduate degrees in biology and economics from John Carroll University.

Lawlor is tasked with continuing recent growth and innovation in IRI's Consumer Network™ Panel, shopper and specialty panels, and data collection methods / devices. He will also focus on ways of integrating information from various sources including panel services, point-of-sale (POS) data and IRI's BehaviorScan® in-market testing service.

IRI President and Chief Executive Officer Scott W. Klein says Lawlor 'brings a deep understanding of consumer-based panel insights that will greatly benefit both IRI and its customers'.
