Web Analytics Firm Acquired

Web analytics firm ClickTracks Analytics Inc. has been acquired by marketing technology provider J.L. Halsey. ClickTracks says the deal should lead to 'an acceleration of its product development, marketing, sales and support capabilities' – including more integration of its tools with other marketing software.

Halsey will now pay ClickTracks accredited investors c.$7.6m in cash and c.$2.9m worth of Halsey common stock, and will add up to $3.3m in earn-out payments based on reaching targets over the next two years. An additional $510,000 will be paid subject to working capital adjustments.

ClickTracks will operate as an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Halsey and joins Lyris Technologies and EmailLabs which were acquired last year, and web content management firm Hot Banana which was also purchased this week. The group becomes one of the largest providers of eMarketing solutions to Mid-Size Businesses. Halsey closed a $10 million subordinated bridge loan to finance the acquisitions of ClickTracks and HotBanana.

John Marshall, who will continue as ClickTracks CEO, says the firm's growth has been entirely organic for the past four years. 'Being a part of J.L. Halsey now opens up a significant opportunity for ClickTracks to serve a larger customer base with expanded support, new integrations and quicker time to market with our upcoming features and products.'

The company's web analytics offering is already part of a set of integrated products including email marketing and web content management for small and mid-sized businesses. ClickTracks has already planned its integration with analysis of email campaign results, AB split testing, and web site changes over the next 12 to 18 months.

ClickTracks is on the web at www.clicktracks.com and its new owner at www.jlhalsey.com .
