Itracks Updates Online Focus Group Tool
US-based online qual provider Itracks has announced a new platform for online focus groups, designed to give qualitative researchers greater flexibility and control.
The new interface makes better use of screen space and puts the focus clearly on the chat frame, which shows the ongoing real-time discussion. Moderators have simple access to tools such as quick mod guide posting, respondent demographic review and secure communications channels, and can launch break out sessions for sub-sets of their group to discuss concepts or stimuli in separate 'rooms' before returning to the main group. Creation and control of transcripts is also improved and simplified.
Itracks holds a US patent for online focus groups, granted in 2002. The last comprehensive new version of the software was released in 2004. President and CEO Dan Weber comments on the new release: 'With the proliferation of chat in daily life, the online focus group stands to make significant gains as a research methodology. We've poured all our knowledge about online qualitative research into this incarnation.'
