Arbitron Hires Ready-Made PPM Veteran

Arbitron has appointed Dr. Pat Pellegrini to the new position of Vice President, Research, New Product Development. His remit will include work on Project Apollo, and custom research projects using Arbitron's PPM™ technology, of which he already has in-depth experience from outside the firm.

He will be based in the company's Columbia, Maryland, office and will report to Chief Research Officer Bob Patchen.

He joins from TNS Media Research in New York, where as Senior VP of Research he was responsible for developing and expanding digital return path audience measurement services, and supported the firm's international audience measurement services for the Internet, television and radio. He previously spent four years at BBM Canada where he worked on the first commercial deployment of the Portable People Meter rating service for television audiences in Montreal. He holds a Ph.D. in quantitative methods, spatial and statistical analysis from the State University of New York, Buffalo, and a Master's of Science degree in quantitative methods and mathematical modeling and a B.A. degree, summa cum laude, in geography from McMaster University in Canada.

Patchen describes Pellegrini as 'an internationally recognized expert on media research... and - outside of Arbitron - may be the leading expert on the PPM thanks to his extensive experience with the PPM system at the BBM Canada and TNS.' He adds: 'Pat's addition to the Arbitron research team will allow us to make more rapid progress on new PPM business initiatives without reducing our level of effort on existing priorities, especially the PPM rollout for radio.'

Arbitron, which employs around 1,900 people, has executive offices in New York City and is on the web at www.arbitron.com .
