Cello Pre-tax Profits Soar

London-based MR and consulting organisation, the Cello Group, has posted a 40% increase in pre-tax profits to £5.9m in the year to December 31 2006, with turnover rising 43% to £74.7m from £52.1m.

More than 75% of the group is in research and consulting – Cello Planning and Research – which is where Cello is experiencing high levels of organic growth. Operating profit rose to £3.5m from £2m in 2005, with overseas work now contributing almost half of the revenues.

The Cello research group includes Insight Research Group, (incorporating Field Management Limited), Leapfrog, The RS Consulting Group (comprising RS Consulting Limited, Consensus Research International, and Kudos Research Limited), and The Value Engineers.

Insight Research Group Chairman and Cello Managing Partner, Richard Gilmore told DRNO: 'Being part of a Group is really beginning to pay off for all of our organisations, with more and more cross fertilization of ideas and sharing knowledge and expertise as we have all got to know each other. International growth has continued with more bases in the US and we are now doing a lot more in China and the Middle East. Acquisitions have been mainstream, and also to bring in some smaller operations whose innovative technologies, particularly digital, are being used to add value across the Group. We have been able to help some organisations complete much needed structural changes, which will add to our strengths in 2007.'

Basic headline earnings per share are up 28% to 12.57p from 9.83p in 2005, and net debt has been reduced from £1.9m to £1.1m.
