Modeling and Analytics Firm Acquired

Statistical modeling and analytics database marketing firm EMSi has been bought by direct marketing agency Direct Group. The buyer says its aim is to provide a fully integrated approach to direct marketing.

New Jersey-based EMSi also develops targeted marketing lists, and delivers customer and prospect list management services and hosted database solutions. The company's core services are based on a model called 'Marketing 3-D', which offers clients data sourcing, mining and management; consumer insights, targeting and modeling; and database hosting and business marketing campaigns.

The EMSi staff will continue to operate from their current location and the firm's two founders, Ken Palma and Mike Brown, will join the Direct Group executive management team.

Don McKenzie, President and CEO of Direct Group commented: 'This acquisition continues Direct Group's evolution from a best-in-breed production and fulfillment operation into a provider of fully integrated, value-added direct marketing solutions for our clients. ROI-enhancing databases are the cornerstone of today's most effective marketing campaigns, and EMSi's capabilities in this area bring our clients a distinct competitive advantage.'

Palma and Brown, who formed EMSi's predecessor company, The Janus Group, in 1996, each bring more than 25 years of experience in database marketing programs, systems and applications, as well as marketing measurement and tracking.

The companies are online at www.directgroup.net and www.goemsi.com .
