Opinion Research Finds the 'Ouch Points'
According to the results of Opinion Research USA's first 'Ouch Point' survey, disorganisation is the greatest frustration for workers attending business meetings (27%). People who interrupt peers and try to dominate meetings come in second on the list of irritations (17%).
The agency's new monthly survey examines tolerance thresholds among Americans in both their professional and personal lives.
Cell phone interruptions are a major annoyance (16%), with Blackberry usage to check e-mails during meetings being seen as less intrusive (5%).
Additional irritants include 4% frustrated by meetings starting late and 5% irritated by attendees arriving late, long meetings with no refreshments (6%), meetings without 'comfort' breaks (8%), and colleagues falling asleep in even the longest of meetings (9%).
'Everyone has a pet peeve about even the smallest of tasks that have to be carried out on a daily basis,' said Jeff Resnick, President of Opinion Research USA. 'In the world of business, the Ouch Point series helps organisations identify these issues and rectify them for their key stakeholders.'
