TNS Buys New Zealand Consultancy

TNS has acquired Auckland-based Conversa Global, creating what it says is New Zealand's largest research consultancy. The global group's NZ business will be merged with Conversa Global to form a new company, TNS Conversa.

Conversa Director Michael Lucas will become MD of the new company.

TNS explained the buy in terms of its commitment to giving clients more added value. Conversa combines market research with financial and economic analysis to generate solutions to specific management problems, and boasts staff with backgrounds in commercial management, management consultancy and financial areas in addition to statistics, econometrics, marketing and MR.

Chris Riquier, MD of TNS Oceania, comments: 'Conversa Global has established a strong position in the New Zealand market through its ability to deliver added value via what we believe to be a unique combination of commercial and market information experience.'

James Hall, the firm's Regional MD for the recently-formed super-regions of Asia Pacific, Latin America, Middle East and Africa, says the buy aligns closely with TNS' global strategy. 'Clients are demanding accountability and the solutions that TNS Conversa will be able to offer meet this need', said Hall.
