Aussie Presidents Sell Firms #2: Ipsos Australia Buys Eureka

Ipsos has announced the acquisition of Australian agency Eureka, a specialist in public opinion, social and CRM research, headed by former AMSRS President John Sergeant.

AMSRS - the Australian Market and Social Research Society - is the country's professional MR body.

Eureka was established in 1995 and has enjoyed particular success in the last two years, almost doubling in size. The firm employs 31 staff based in Canberra and Sydney, and had a turnover of $AUD 3.8m in the last fiscal year.

Ipsos says Eureka's service philosophy and client base 'complement our Public Affairs and Loyalty specialised business lines in particular'. Ipsos Deputy CEO and Asian supremo Henri Wallard comments: 'The acquisition of Eureka will allow us to continue to accelerate our growth and strengthen our position, especially within Public Affairs and CRM research, and I am really pleased to welcome within our Group very highly qualified researchers.'

The buy is Ipsos' 5th in Australia to date - the others were Marketing for Change (1999), the NCS Pearson branch specialised in data collection and processing (2003), The MacKay Report (2003), and TQA Research (2004). Ipsos Australia employs 135 full time staff and offers all the group's specialisations, achieving a turnover of 18m euros in 2006.

The Group is online at www.ipsos.com.
