Arbitron and Entravision Sign Radio Ratings Deal

Spanish-language media company Entravision Communications Corporation (EVC) has signed a multi-year agreement to conduct electronic ratings measurement using Arbitron's Portable People Meter (PPM).

EVC's portfolio includes television stations, radio stations and outdoor billboard faces and reaches approximately 70% of all US Hispanic consumers. As and when PPM is rolled out across Los Angeles, Phoenix, Denver, Sacramento and Las Vegas, the agreement will cover each EVC radio station in these markets.

Arbitron has already signed contracts to provide more than a dozen broadcasters with its PPM ratings. Last month Clear Channel Radio agreed to trial the system in six of its Philadelphia stations (www.mrweb.com/drno/news6967.htm ), while internationally the ball continued to roll with the Danish Broadcasting Corporation panel of 750 Danish broadcasters signing a PPM deal (www.mrweb.com/drno/news6959.htm ).

By the end of 2010, Arbitron is scheduled to use the PPM in the top 50 US markets in place of the paper and pencil diary method that the company has employed to collect radio audience estimates since 1965. Arbitron is online at www.arbitron.com and EVC at www.entravision.com.
