Senior Hires Boost Financial Flagship for GfK NOP

UK-based GfK NOP has appointed Gordon Blunt and Andy Thwaites to extend the scope of its Financial Research Survey (FRS), adding expertise in areas including forecasting, segmentation and data matching.

The company says the FRS is now bought by 'virtually every major retail banking group'. GfK Financial MD Nick Watkins explains the new approach: 'Increasingly, our clients are looking at how to integrate survey information with other data sources in order to provide a complete and consistent view of the markets in which they operate. At the same time they want to understand how broad consumer trends will impact upon the financial services sector.' He adds: 'Over the last two years we have invested heavily in the FRS and I am now looking forward to taking the survey onto the next stage of its development. Andy and Gordon will be instrumental in helping us achieve this'.

Blunt has extensive knowledge of client databases from 20 years' experience in market analysis at Barclaycard and CACI. He comments: 'Historically, research and transactional data sets have been seen as separate, but much, unparalleled insight can be gained from merging the two types of data. As the leading survey of its type, the FRS has unrivalled potential for adding a great deal of value in this way.'

Thwaites previously set up the global Research and Intelligence functions at PartyGaming, after a stint as a Director and co-founder of strategic research consultancy Market Dynamics, which was bought by MORI in 2002. He started his career at the Henley Centre.
