Nintendo Gives Special Assignment To Research President

Nintendo has transferred Shigeyuki Takahashi - President of the firm's research arm Nintendo Research - to a new role, Executive VP, Special Assignments, based in the US.

From the beginning of November, Takahashi will report to Chairman and CEO Tatsumi Kimishima from the firm's new offices in California. His remit will be to conduct special research initiatives and provide perspective to the sales and marketing department.

Takahashi joined the firm last year to conduct research to support Nintendo's future business expansion in North America. For the 30 years before this, he worked for Sanwa Bank (now UFJ bank). He also previously worked as an International Banking Business Manager in New York. Takahashi has a BA in Public Law from Tokyo University and a Masters from the University of Pennsylvania's Law School.

'Shigeyuki Takahashi's research and knowledge have been - and will continue to be - valuable assets to Nintendo' commented Kimishima. 'He will be a great addition to our new office.'

Nintendo is headquartered in Kyoto, Japan and to date, has sold more than one billion video games worldwide. Around 40% of US households own a Nintendo game. Web site: www.nintendo.com.
