Heads Roll at WebTrends

In the US, online analytics firm WebTrends has replaced CEO Greg Drew with board member Bruce Coleman, while three Vice Presidents - Jason Palmer, Tore Steen and Hamid Bahadori - have also left the company.

Interim CEO Bruce ColemanDrew headed WebTrends for the past four years, during which time he almost doubled its revenue to about $80m.

The firm says the 'shake-up' is aimed at improving performance. 'It's not necessarily a change in direction or strategy,' said Matt Langie, WebTrends' Director of Product Marketing. 'The board felt we weren't growing fast enough given the accelerated growth in the market.'

Coleman has been on the board since 1998, and will take the reigns on an interim basis. He has an extensive background leading tech companies and since the late 1990s, has been CEO at several companies including Stamps.com, Rogue Wave Software, and web security firm Websense. Coleman has a BA in Economics from Trinity College and an MBA from Harvard.

In July, the company released the latest version of its Marketing Lab product suite, aimed at optimising site performance and building customer engagement (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7115.htm ). More recently, it partnered with SEMDirector and DoubleClick to offer a 'global dashboard' for search marketers in large firms to analyse their search strategies (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7211.htm ).

WebTrends employs about 300 people, most of them at its Portland headquarters, and is online at www.webtrends.com.
