Votivation to Engage with Young UK Voters

Social enterprise firm Votivation is to use its online voting system to canvass the opinion of 300,000 young people who are eligible to vote at next January's UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) elections.

The UKYP is made up of more than 500 elected members aged between 11 and 18. As well as facilitating voting for the forthcoming elections, Votivation will also appoint one of the body's members to its advisory board, to help identify how to engage with young adults in the UK. In addition, MP's associated with the UKYP will be able to convey relevant messages, policies and proposed legislation to young people via the Votivation site.

Members of Votivation's market research social network can generate instant feedback on key issues, actively promoting their views and opinions. Membership is free, and the firm also offers members the opportunity to 'Earn & Give'; a system which rewards them for their involvement with charity donations.

Votivation Director Craig Jones said that the partnership recognises the importance in voicing young peoples' opinions. 'We offer the UKYP an effective forum to test key messages, supporting young people's views and enabling them to be heard.'

As long ago as 1999, Votivation launched its Vote-4-Me.com site where users can propose an idea, opinion or petition, market it using proprietary viral-marketing features and see how much support it receives. Web sites are at www.votivation.com and www.ukyouthparliament.org.uk.
