Northern Light Adds IT Blogs to Portal Suite

Research portal provider Northern Light has added more than 1,600 IT industry-oriented blogs to its SinglePoint suite of MR portals, in a move which it says will help professionals stay up-to-date with the 'buzz' that blogs generate in the IT industry.

The company has been operating its portals under the SinglePoint brand name since 1998, to allow clients access to internal, external and licensed market intelligence with one login, one search, and one results page. With the new offering, the company aggregates all blog content daily, indexes it and makes it available online in real-time.

Drawn from a list of around 150 million sites, the blogs are authored by IT industry analysts, journalists, pundits and corporate executives. Each is vetted by the firm's editors to identify which are most relevant for market research, competitive intelligence and reputation management, and information is then archived to allow searching of historical content.

Searches can be conducted on company names or products, and alerts can be set to notify users when an industry authority mentions one of the search terms on their blog.

'Accessing content through SinglePoint is far more efficient and effective than plowing through individual subscriptions or RSS feeds,' said CEO C. David Seuss. 'And industry authority blog commentary can be analysed using MI Analyst, our proprietary tool for extracting meaning from search results by mining documents for business meaning, relevant issues, competitive developments, market trends, and tone of voice toward companies.'

Headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with a development center in St. Petersburg, Russia, Northern Light provides research portals, business research content, and search technology, and is on the web at www.northernlight.com.
