Lloyd is New MRS Chairman

In the UK, the Market Research Society (MRS) has elected Ipsos-MORI's MD of Operations Rowland Lloyd as its new Chairman. He will replace outgoing Chairman Simon Lidington in April.

Rowland LloydLloyd has more than 20 years' market research industry experience, having commenced his career in fieldwork with Millward Brown in 1985 and then moved to BMRB as Head of Operations in 1998, before joining Ipsos in 2002. He has previously chaired the MRS Standards Board, is a member of the MRQSA council, and has been particularly involved in issues regarding data protection and the composition of MRS guidelines.

Unlike the previous election - which Lidington won in 2006 by 35 votes - this one was uncontested. An election will also be held for five additional MRS council posts, and candidates include:
  • Rupert Anderton - European Research Manager, Monitor Company
  • Sue Brooker - Director of Quantitative Research, National Centre for Social Research
  • Vanella Jackson - CEO, Hall and Partners
  • Tariq Mirza - Business Development Director, Intellex Datamanagement
  • Rob Sheldon - MD, Accent Market Research
  • Ray Tiwari - MD, Focused Sales Marketing
  • Alex Wright - Research Manager, Winmark Research.
With members in more than 70 countries, the MRS is the world's largest association serving those involved with market, social and opinion research, and in business intelligence, market analysis, customer insight and consultancy. The association is on the web at www.mrs.org.uk.
