Changing Faces at Nielsen Malaysia
Barry Ooi has been named Executive Director Southeast Asia Shopper Insights, Nielsen Malaysia’s newly-established Retailer Practice Group. Richard Hall takes over from Ooi as Executive Director, Retail Measurement Services for Malaysia, while Hanis Harun joins as Executive Director Telecommunications Industry Practice Group, Asia Pacific.
Ooi will report to Farquhar Stirling, MD South East Asia, who comments: ‘Barry’s mix of Nielsen Retail Measurement and Winning Brands experience has ideally placed him to lead this new and important group. His experience in both retail and customised research will allow clients to gain from this unique area of expertise.’
In his new capacity, Hall takes responsibility for the firm’s retail measurement business in Malaysia, based in Kuala Lumpur. He will report to Paul Richmond, MD Malaysia and Singapore.
Hall was previously Executive Director, Retailer Services, Asia Pacific, based in China, when he had geographic responsibility for North Asia, supported the Retailer Service teams in the retail markets of China and Korea, and serviced regional retailers based in Hong Kong. Prior to this, he was in charge of Nielsen’s Retailer Services for Southeast Asia.
Harun, extending her brief from Malaysia to the whole Asia Pacific region, will work with the recently rebranded Nielsen Mobile (www.mrweb.com/drno/news7445.htm ), which provides syndicated consumer research to the telecom and mobile media markets. Prior to joining the firm, she was Global Account Director at TNS and a Steering Committee member with TNS’ Global Technology Sector.
