mruk Steps Up Activity With London Appointment

In the UK, public sector specialist Market Research International (known as mruk) has appointed Jean Black as Regional Director to manage and grow the firm's London-based operation.

Most recently, Black was Research Director at Ipsos MORI, prior to which, she worked for GfK NOP for more than 9 years, latterly as Divisional Director. She has a BA (Hons) Sociology degree with Professional Studies (Research Methods).

In her new position, Black will manage the London research team and in addition to running major projects, she will take on a business development role.

'Jean brings more than 20 years of high quality experience, to lead the further development of our London based team,' commented MD Jim Law. 'Her background complements our existing skills well, and she brings great enthusiasm to our focus on large public sector research projects.'

Law told DRNO that the firm had moved its London operations to larger premises in Tottenham Court Road in the autumn of 2007 and has been scaling up its activity there since. 'This appointment is part of our planned growth strategy to really push forward in 2008,' he added.

The firm has also recently appointed Jane McKay as Senior Research Executive in Manchester, Lisa Pearce as Research Executive in London, Jessica Coleman as Research Executive in Bristol, and Abda Hanif as Statistician and Scott Rosbotham as Data Analyst in Glasgow.

Full service agency mruk was established in 1994 to conduct social research for public sector organisations. Last summer, the company was acquired by research and consultancy group Cello (www.mrweb.com/drno/news6893.htm ).

In addition to its London office, the firm has operations in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle, and is online at www.mruk.co.uk.
