Mintel Snaps Up Snapshots

In the UK, consumer product and media intelligence firm Mintel has bought Snapshots International, a London-based publisher of global market reports. Terms were not disclosed.

Through this acquisition, Mintel will now be able to offer research in the telecoms, technology and pharma sectors, as well as provide wider coverage of markets in Europe, the Middle East and Far East. It will also be able to combine its forecasting work with Snapshots' historical data.

Snapshots - which trades as Snapdata International - was founded in 1996 to produce market reports across a broad range of industries. Its primary product range, The Snapshots Series, provides solutions for sales teams, news business investment opportunities, export potential and new business plans.

Snapshots CEO and MD Debra Curtis said she is confident that Mintel has the resources and the vision to develop the product range further.

For the foreseeable future, Mintel will run the Snapshots business as a separate company within the Mintel Group from its London offices.

Peter Haigh, CEO of Mintel confirmed that the purchase demonstrated his firm's commitment to continually develop and improve coverage and product range. 'Snapshots' experienced team will be a real asset to Mintel and our clients, bringing a great deal of relevant skills and knowledge,' he added.

For more than 37 years, Mintel has provided its clients with insight into consumer behaviour, product innovation and competitive marketing strategies. The company has offices in Chicago, London, Belfast, Sydney, Tokyo and Shanghai and is online at www.mintel.com, while Snapshots is on the web at www.snapdata.com .
