IAB Appoints Research Head from PwC

In the UK, the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) has appointed former PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Executive Nicki Lynas as Head of Research. She joins on 9 September.

Nicki LynasLynas was previously Senior Manager in the Entertainment & Media division at PwC, where she worked on IAB/PwC joint initiatives such as the UK adspend study - which provides a barometer of the health of the UK online advertising industry - and led the IAB pan-European AdEx report - which measures online media expenditure across 11 territories. Prior to this, she was a Strategic Planner at Glue London, and a Business Development Analyst at Emap Digital.

In her new role, she will report to CEO Guy Phillipson, and is charged with driving research which ranges from consumer behaviour and audience measurement to cross-media brand engagement. She will also continue to oversee the IAB/PwC adpsend study.

Alongside Research Manager, Sorcha Proctor, Lynas will be working proactively with IAB members to agree research partnerships for the industry, as well as chairing the Bureau's Research Council and working closely with IAB Europe. Her remit will include research into the emerging mobile market and other ad hoc initiatives designed to further educate the industry about the efficacy of Internet marketing.

Phillipson commented: 'Appointing an exceptional talent such as Nicki is an excellent move for the IAB, and indeed the industry. Her planning and strategic strengths will be invaluable as we put together our programme for the rest of the decade, and we look forward to seeing her take the research department to a new level.'

The IAB is the trade association for the Internet marketing industry, and is online at www.iabuk.net . In December, it announced a joint research project with TV marketing body Thinkbox to look at the effectiveness of using TV and online ad campaigns in tandem.
