Bid Online to Help Researchers in Need

The UK's MR charity MRBA reports 'a marked increase in the number of worthy cases' as it begins its annual Online Auction to raise money for researchers and ex-researchers in difficulties.

'The economic downturn is definitely hitting those more vulnerable in our industry with many finding any slight change in personal circumstances really affecting their financial stability' says Ian Brace, Chairman of the MRBA (Market Research Benevolent Association).

The auction - at www.mrba-auction.co.uk - runs until 2nd April and offers a broad range of gifts and experiences, donated by colleagues in the industry, for visitors to bid on.

All the proceeds go to helping colleagues who work or have worked in the market research industry and who are currently experiencing financial difficulties. Items to bid on include a week at a ski resort, holiday use of a flat in Cornwall and a house in the Pyrenees; original artworks; concert tickets; a golfing day; bottles of fine wine and champagne; and use of a lab for 2 focus group sessions.

'We want to help as many people as we can, and this is where our auction really helps' says Brace. 'It gives colleagues the chance to support us directly and get a nice gift or treat in the process. I encourage everyone in the industry to visit the website and make a bid'.

Since 1977, the MRBA has helped hundreds of people and their dependents experiencing financial difficulties due to illness, injury, bereavement or other personal problem, get their lives back on track - recipients include interviewers, supervisors, field managers; as well as office-based support staff, researchers, managers, directors, and consultants. Existing or previous membership in the MRS or the MRBA is not a requirement.
