TubeMogul Lands $3m Investment

In the US, online video analytics firm TubeMogul has received $3m in Series A funding, which it will use to speed up growth of its video distribution platform and accelerate standardization of its online video analytics offering.

The investment has been made by Trinity Ventures, whose General Partner Ajay Chopra will join NetRatings co-founder David Toth on TubeMogul's Board. 'TubeMogul has the team, vision and product to drive a fundamental change in the way online video is monetized', Chopra commented.

Founded in 2006 by online video buffs who met in graduate school at UC Berkeley, TubeMogul's objective was to provide video producers, advertisers and the online video industry with publishing tools and easy to interpret analytics.

Today, the firm's service is used by publishers to upload their content to one or all of the major video sharing and social networking sites in one go. Video publishers then use its aggregated analytics to understand when, where and how often their videos are watched, track and compare 'what's hot and what's not', measure the impact of marketing campaigns, gather competitive intelligence, and share the data with advertisers and colleagues.

'Since the company's founding, TubeMogul has hit every single one of its revenue targets, and this one should be no different,' said Toth, who was an early investor in the firm. Other early investors include Knight's Bridge Capital Partners.

Last October, the firm acquired video metrics company Illumenix, which offers a Flash-based video analytics service to enable video publishers, marketers and advertisers to measure online video audiences and analyze user interaction.

TubeMogul is based in Emeryville, California and is online at www.tubemogul.com .
