VNU Increases Stake in Indian Agency

VNU, a leading international publishing and information conglomerate, has increased its interest in ORG-MARG in from 35% to 85.25%. The latter is the leading Indian company in the market research and marketing information services sector. VNU has owned an interest in the operation since early 1997.

ORG-MARG revenues amount to approximately Euro 20 million. The company's core activities include television audience measurement, syndicated retail audits, consumer panel data, advertising expenditure measurement and ad hoc market research.

VNU is a leading player in the marketing information services business including strong positions in media information in the United States and Europe. VNU plans to expand geographically and reinforce these positions in order to provide enhanced capabilities to its multinational clients. Acquiring a majority interest in ORG-MARG fits into this strategy. The company's activities are closely related to those of VNU. Through Nielsen Media Research, VNU is already active in North America in the areas of television ratings and advertising expenditure measurement in various media types.
