Harris Interactive Expands Online Research Capabilities in Central America
07/07/00

Le Vote, a leading market research company in Honduras, and Harris Interactive have signed an exclusive agreement under which Le Vote becomes the newest member of Harris Interactive's Global Network.

The agreement further establishes Harris Interactive's market research leadership in Latin America, where the company has representative offices in Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Chile.

Le Vote, now Le Vote/Harris Interactive, is a leading market research firm in Honduras. In co-operation with Harris Interactive, the company plans to build an online respondent database in Central America and to begin conducting online research to complement its traditional research services. The relationship is expected to offer Le Vote/Harris Interactive a tremendous advantage over its competitors who conduct research using traditional methodologies.

Well known for its public opinion research, Le Vote also conducts political polls for the media. The company now has 15 employees (including 5 interviewers), and it is expected that this number will grow substantially as a result of its alliance with Harris Interactive. The company also plans to open offices in San Pedro Sula, Honduras and in other key Central American cities.

According to Ricardo Romero, President of Le Vote, "Our agreement with Harris Interactive will strengthen our leadership in Honduran and Central American markets. Harris Interactive's technological superiority in market research will enable us to shift from traditional methodologies to online research. It will also give us a global perspective that will help us conduct research on a much larger scale than we could have before."

"This agreement is yet another milestone in the international expansion of our Internet research capabilities, coming on the heels of similar agreements with market research leaders in Brazil and the Netherlands" added Gordon S. Black, President and CEO of Harris Interactive. "As our global network continues to add to the size and diversity of our worldwide database, we can conduct research studies in a number of countries using indigenous panels, thus helping local companies as well as multinational corporations."
