For the year ended June 30 2000, the strategic marketing research firm,
Total Research has reported record revenues of US$50.8 million, a 22%
increase over the previous year, whilst net income at US$1.9 million
remained the same.
The results include two months of the operating results of Romtec, a leading
UK IT and telecoms research firm, which Total acquired in May this year.
Total Research specialises in the development and application of predictive
marketing research. Based in Princeton, New Jersey, Total has other offices
in London, Minneapolis and Tampa. Recently, the company was recognized in
the Honomichl 2000 listing as the 20th largest US marketing research firm
with the second fastest growth rate among the top 20 US marketing research
firms.
According to President and CEO, Albert Angrisani, "In fiscal 2000, we
significantly increased revenues through the strategic growth of our core
business with the objective of achieving the critical mass required to
compete at the top end of the marketing research industry.
Angrisani added, "In fiscal 2000, Total also experienced some growth pains
as profitability remained flat. The previously announced significant
reduction in a large contract by a client late in the fourth quarter
resulted in the reduction of net income in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2000
as compared to the same quarter in fiscal 1999. In fiscal 1999, this
contract accounted for in excess of 15% of the Company's revenue and a
significant portion of annual profits. The Company anticipates that this
contract reduction will have an impact on revenues and profitability in the
first and second quarters of fiscal 2001. However, the Company is expanding
its marketing and sales efforts with the intent of replacing the lost
contract value and creating a broader base of business going forward."
During the year the company invested almost US$1 million in new Internet
delivery technology for web surveys, virtual private networks and the
upgrading of two telephone centres to be compatible with Internet delivery
technology.
