Nielsen//NetRatings collects detailed information from a representative panel of Internet users in order to provide accurate and complete coverage of who is using the Internet, which websites they are visiting and how much time they spend viewing individual Web pages. Through its unique BannerTrack® facility, the service also provides information about the website banner advertisements that panel members visit and how long they spend viewing them.

According to Peter Wilcox, Managing Director – Europe for ACNielsen eRatings.com, "Spain is one of the hottest Internet markets in Europe because of its economic size and growth potential. By January, we will be delivering the highest quality data available and be able to compare user habits across ten Western European countries." The Internet penetration level in Spain - the number of individuals who have access to the Internet as a percentage of the population - is relatively low at 13%. But the growth rates in penetration for the last two years have topped 50%, making Spain one of the fastest developing online countries in Europe. Data from Spanish Internet audience panels are expected to become available by January 2001.
