The Internet Survey Challenge

Following its successful one-day conference on Survey Research and the Internet, the Association for Survey Computing has set up an Internet Survey Challenge and Showcase for the end of January 2001.

Four suppliers have now been selected to participate in the comparative workshop to present and demonstrate their software against a standard task. These are:

  • FIRM (Future Information Research Management presenting Confirmit.
  • HumanVoice Inc will use a variety of their e-survey products.
  • Mercator will present Snap Internet survey software.
  • Pulse Train will present Bellview Web and Pulsar Web.
Each challenger will be given 45 minutes to present solutions to three standard set of tasks. In addition, there will be two case-study demonstrations illustrating why and how the challenges of Internet-based survey research sometimes mean going far beyond the capabilities of even the best off-the-shelf products.
  • John Lyons from NOP - Tables on the Web.
  • Simon Musgrave from UK Data Archive - NESSTAR, an Infrastructure for Data Dissemination via the Internet.
