New Taiwanese TV Audience Ratings Research Company

Announcement of the formation of a media research company, Broadcasters Market Research Co. Ltd, has just been made. The new venture will improve current media research in Asia by monitoring TV audience ratings in Taiwan and represents a joint effort between the Taiwanese governmental body, Broadcasting Development Fund, and Video Research, the Japanese media and marketing research company.

It is expected that the TV audience research produced will be Taiwan’s most wide-scale to date. The first data service has been planned for release in January 2002.

According to Nagasaburo Miyamoto, Video Research’s Director of Strategic Planning,"This project was initiated by the Broadcasting Development Fund. There is a true need for dependable TV audience ratings in Taiwan. We feel it is a great honour to be the research company chosen as a partner, and we'll continue to work hard to maintain their trust."

In addition to its financial investment into the company, Video Research has also stated that it will assign one Executive Vice President and one Research and Development Manager to support the new research operations. Commenting on Video Research’s other future corporate plans, Miyamoto added, "Furthermore, we will expand our services to syndicated and custom marketing research to better serve our clients."
