Best Value Data Merge Awarded to ATP
31/3/01

The Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions (DETR) has awarded researcher ATP an important new contract. This is to merge the User Satisfaction Best Value Performance Indicators(BVPIs) data collected by local authorities into a single data set.

The BVPIs are intended to be used to monitor and compare the performance of local authorities on areas such as cultural activities, cleanliness, planning, housing and benefits. They are the result of the largest survey exercise on measuring the public’s perceptions and satisfaction with the services their local authorities provide. For the first time, the same questions and methods have been applied across England.

The merged data set promises to be a very valuable data source for analysis of satisfaction ratings across the country. ATP will be involved in the collation of 1,629 data sets from 389 local authorities over the next five months. The contract objective is to provide a coherent set of data for analysis, as well as a complete catalogue of methodologies used.
