VNU Restructures Business

VNU, the leading international media and information company, has decided to form a new business group to be called VNU Media Measurement & Information.

Following the rapid expansion of the company, it has been decided to organize the VNU, Inc. activities into three separate business groups that represent the different types of business information: Media Measurement & Information, Marketing Information and Business Media.

VNU Media Measurement & Information offers television and radio ratings services, Internet audience measurement and analysis services, advertising expenditure data and entertainment information. Active in more than 40 major markets worldwide, the new group will serve the information needs of advertisers, advertising agencies, media planners, broadcasters, publishers and the entertainment industry.

Michael Connors (46), who will remain as Vice Chairman of ACNielsen, has been appointed Chairman and CEO of this business group. Connors has been Vice Chairman of ACNielsen since 1996. Prior to this position, Connors was a Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Dun & Bradstreet and Senior Vice President for American Express Travel Related Services.

VNU Media Measurement & Information comprises the following companies: Nielsen Media Research, ACNielsen Media International, NetRatings, ACNielsen eRatings.com, Interactive Market Systems, Marketing Resources Plus, PERQ/HCI Research, SRDS, Scarborough Research, ACNielsen EDI, The National Research Group and VNU Retail Entertainment Information.

VNU Marketing Information comprises the following companies: ACNielsen (excluding the three above mentioned subsidiaries), Spectra Marketing Systems, Trade Dimensions, MediaPlan, Claritas (USA) and Solucient
