UK-based marcoms giant WPP has appointed IDG Group EVP Hugo Shong as non-executive director (N.E.D.), along with Roger Agnelli, Jacques Aigrain, and Sally Susman.

Shong (pictured) joined IT publishing, market research, and conference company IDG in 1991 as an associate to founder and Chairman Patrick McGovern. In 1993, he helped IDG set up the first technology venture fund in China, IDG Capital Partners, which now has $3.8 billion under management and an investment portfolio including Baidu, Tencent, Sohu, Ctrip and Soufun.

He will serve as a N.E.D. alongside Agnelli, who is the CEO of mining and bioenergy firm AGN Holding; Aigrain, the current Chairman of international clearing house LCH.Clearnet Group; and Susman, who is EVP, Policy External Affairs and Communications at biopharma firm Pfizer.
