Premium Brands Conference from Admap
October 4 2001

A significant number of leading grocery brands have held their market share within the UK's aggressive retailing environment. Indeed, some observers point out that many have in fact increased their market share. This phenomenon is the basis for the forthcoming research-based Admap conference on Premium Brands to be held in London on October 25th.

The conference will focus on the transformation that has occurred in UK grocery retailing over the last two decades. This is the transformation that has seen the leading supermarket chains grow to dominate the market, with their own label products securing substantial sales in every sector. It is also the period in which mass advertising has played a key role in the rise of the top brands.

The conference promises new and insightful retail research for attendees, along with detailed discussion as to the long-term advertising needed to support today's brands. In addition, speakers from both manufacturers and marketing support sectors have been encouraged to share their real life practical techniques for brand survival.

The programme to date covers the following topics:

  • Change with the spread of new sales techniques such as every day low prices.
  • The fragmentation of TV viewing.
  • The threats and opportunities to premium brands within the whole fmcg area in the near future.

Confirmed speakers so far include:

  • David Cheesewright, Business unit Director, ASDA
  • Bart Dalla Mura, Commercial Director, Allied Bakeries
  • Raymond de la Court, International Customer Development, Procter & Gamble
  • Teresa Cebellos, Global Category Manager, H.J. Heinz
  • Dr Stephen Buck, Non-Executive Director, Taylor Nelson Sofres
  • Robert Heath, Managing Director, The Value Creation Company.
