Launch of CIM Online Knowledge Centre
February 1 2002

The Chartered Institute of Marketing in the UK just has launched an important initiative 'The Knowledge Centre'. CIM's goal is to create an encyclopaedia of knowledge, tools and information, which practitioners will find practical and useful.

Contained in the Knowledge Centre are 'Canons of Knowledge' which showcase current marketing knowledge, compiled by top marketing professionals and academics, to help improve the practice of marketing. Leading industry names, including recognised academics, practitioners and writers in the field of marketing are developing canon projects. These teams research best practice and current thinking to produce Canons of Knowledge.

'This new CIM initiative brings together the very best case studies and theoretical frameworks in these new Marketing Canons of Knowledge,' said Sir Paul Judge, Vice-President of CIM and Chairman of the Knowledge Centre research projects.

A rolling plan of development and new Canons of Knowledge will be launched every month to keep up to date with the latest industry thinking. This week, two new Canons of Knowledge go live: Services Marketing and Media Neutral Planning. These add to existing Canons of Knowledge on Innovation, Data Protection, Small Business Solutions, Marketing Effectiveness and Promoting Marketing. Online forums enable marketing professionals to share their views and to contribute to each Canon of Knowledge.

The Knowledge Centre encyclopaedia of Marketing can be accessed online at the www.cim.co.uk
