European Uptake of Internet Explorer 6 | May 21 2002 |
Recent research conducted by interactive research specialist RedSheriff has highlighted the uptake of Microsoft's Internet Explorer 6 across Europe.
Only a few months after the product initially launched, the average usage in Europe is already at 25%. The level of uptake of IE6 in the UK, at 24%, is behind those of Italy (27%), Germany (26%) and Sweden (25%), but is higher than in Spain (22%) and France (18%).
Netscape Navigator usage remains steady in the UK at 4% over March and April according to RedSheriff figures, with IE at 90%.
The results were gathered from over 50 million unique users across Europe who visited sites using RedSheriff measurement.
According to Martin Filz, European Vice President of RedSheriff, 'Internet Explorer 6 offers tremendous privacy, security and management advantages over the other browsers available, and it is very encouraging to see such a fast uptake of the new software.'
