GfK Healthcare Launches Managed Markets Unit

US-based GfK Healthcare has launched a new unit, the Managed Markets Practice Area, offering research and consulting which supports every stage of the product life cycle and throughout the business planning process.

The new unit will provide specific market research expertise integrated with in-depth therapeutic category knowledge. This includes both qual and quant custom and syndicated research services for studies ranging from smaller scale programs designed to take the pulse of the market, to multi-stakeholder projects.

It will be staffed by a Managed Markets team of professionals who have supplier-side and client-side managed care MR backgrounds, as well as product and program development and management within both the pharmaceutical industry and health plan sectors.

'In the past two years in particular, we have seen an increase in clients seeking marketing research programs to support their payor strategies,' explains Sue Ramspacher, SVP of the new unit. 'Accordingly, we are excited to assemble our experience in managed markets marketing research and offer clients a focused team and full range of resources to meet their needs.'

GfK Healthcare has a network of more than 500 health care-specific research consultants based in local markets around the world. Last month, the firm launched its Treatment Tracker, to offer data on physicians' brand preferences.
