Quantcast Raising Funds to Take New Tack?
Reports in the press claim that web analytics firm Quantcast is attempting to raise $50m in third round funding, which it will use to develop services beyond its current remit.
Last week, the San Francisco-based company released its Quantcast Media Program, which provides advertisers and media firms with an audience analysis service for evaluating the correlation between TV viewership and online activity. The service uses data gathered from 10 million web sites, blogs and videos.
In January 2008, Quantcast raised $20m in a second round led by Founders Fund and Polaris Venture Partners, and the prior year, it secured $5.7m in its first round from Founders Fund and Revolution Capital.
It is not clear who the lead investors might be for Quantcast's possible third round, and the firm has declined to comment on today's reports.
