Another 10k for MrWeb

Having passed its ten thousandth news story in May, MrWeb registered its 10,000th jobseeker at the beginning of this month.

The 10,000th candidate, currently working as a research executive for a medium sized agency in London, received a prize of £200 which she says will go towards a weekend away with her husband, 'probably in Barcelona'. She added: 'I registered with MrWeb because colleagues mentioned it to me - I am not ready to move job yet but I wanted to see what jobs are available and what's happening in the industry - I'm also getting the news emails.'

MrWeb was the first research site to offer daily emails of relevant jobs, back in the year 2000, and has the largest searchable database of MR and market analysis positions to be found anywhere (currently 2,700 - see www.mrweb.com/jobs ), filling more jobs than any competitor, based on advertiser feedback. Fees are charged for UK ads and a small amount for Australian positions, otherwise postings remain free at present. Jobs are individually checked and coded by an experienced b2b researcher at MrWeb to ensure candidates receive the most relevant selection possible.

MD Nick Thomas comments: 'Congratulations to our winning candidate - we hope it was a nice surprise. A 'trolley dash' doesn't work too well for an online publication but the cash is a good alternative.

'It's easy to bandy around numbers of subscribers and I'm always much happier when advertisers or candidates say we're the top site than I am just looking at stats - we could have twice as many subscribers and if they weren't good quality it wouldn't mean much. Nevertheless, it's nice to pass a milestone like this, knowing that our candidates generally are the right kind - most are dedicated to MR and most have good experience, so to have 10,000 of them who have registered is quite something.'

The firm has grown its staff in each of the last two years and intends to do so again before the end of 2009, with a number of new features and sections due for launch, plus the relaunch of the careers-focused HRchive imminent.

Candidates can make selections and choose daily or weekly emails at www.mrweb.com/notify , or www.mrweb.com/notifyusa for those based in the United States. In addition to publishing Daily Research News and running the jobs service, MrWeb operates directories and a diary for the MR industry worldwide. The company is independent of any MR association or agency and is based in London, UK.
