'Green Confidence' Tracker Launched

In the US, a coalition of three businesses has launched The Green Confidence Index, to provide a monthly snapshot of Americans' attitudes on environmental responsibility and their willingness to make green purchasing choices.

Joel MakowerThe Index has been developed by Survey Sampling International; GreenBiz.com, part of Greener World Media which produces environmental research reports and events; and marketing firm Earth sense, which produces the Eco-Insights syndicated survey of US consumers' attitudes toward the environment.

It is based on a monthly survey of more than 2,500 adults who are nationally representative of the US adult online population.

The subscription-based service provides feedback on how leaders and institutions are perceived to be addressing environmental issues, debates the adequacy of information available to make informed decision, and details past and future purchasing habits for green products.

'For years, periodic surveys have tried to capture snapshots of Americans' attitudes to green issues, stated Joel Makower, Executive Editor of GreenBiz.com and Chairman of Greener World Media. 'By surveying monthly, the Green Confidence Index will reveal real-time shifts and nuances marketers don't usually see.'

The new service has its own web site at: www.greenconfidenceindex.com , while the coalition members are online at: www.surveysampling.com , www.greenbiz.com and www.earthsense.com .
