Light Reading Opens in India, Hires Two

Research-led media group Light Reading, which focuses on the comms market, has opened offices in Mumbai and New Delhi and appointed telecoms industry specialists Kailash Shirodkar and Gagandeep Kaur to drive sales and marketing and content in India.

Shirodkar becomes Director of Sales and Marketing in India, based in Mumbai. He was previously head of sales and marketing for the IT Media division of tech publisher The Indian Express Limited, where he spent seven years. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Telecom and an MBA in Telecom Management with a specialization in Marketing.

Kaur's new role is as Light Reading's India Editor, based in New Delhi. She was previously Senior Assistant Editor at telecom magazine Voice and Data, managing a team of five reporters, writing stories and interviewing execs; and before this ran the Infotech section of Indiatimes.com. She also served as a Senior Correspondent on the business staff for the Times of India, and as an internal writer at Satyam Computer Services.

The two will work with analysts from telecoms research and analyst subsidiaries Heavy Reading and Pyramid Research, to develop and drive two new events including Mobile Broadband India. Light Reading India will work also closely with the national company of the firm's ultimate parent, former NOP owner UBM.
