Nielsen Names New MD for South Asia

In India, Nielsen has promoted Piyush Mathur to the role of Managing Director for its South Asia Business.

Piyush MathurThe promotion follows the retirement of Partha Rakshit after 28 years with the firm.

Piyush joined Nielsen (ORG-MARG) in Delhi in 1994 as a Research Executive, since when he has held positions of increasing responsibility across the Indian sub-continent, Middle East and North Africa. Most recently, he was Regional MD for Middle East & North Africa, overseeing the work of 1400 employees. During his time with the firm, he has also been involved in several senior level positions with the company, as the Head of the Customized Unit in Egypt, Country Manager in the Indian sub-continent and Research Director heading Media and Market studies.

In his new role, Piyush will be based in the Mumbai office and report to Christophe Cambournac, President of Consumer Research, Asia Pacific, India, Middle East & Africa.

Rakshit became MD for South Asia in 2004, having previously been MD of ACNielsen, India and for Customised Research Services in the region. During his career with the firm, he managed its interests in Nepal, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka and its TAM India interests.

Prior to joining, he worked at Philip Morris and Procter & Gamble. He is the former President of the Market Research Society in India (1990-1993), and was ESOMAR's National Representative in India from 1991 to 1996.
