Business Banking Survey Launched

Financial specialist Charterhouse Research has launched the UK Business Banking Survey, billed as the most extensive continuous syndicated banking usage and attitude survey ever conducted among British businesses.

The syndicated survey covers companies from start-ups to corporates with £1bn turnover. Helped by a timely launch, it has already racked up more than £1m in subscriptions from major banks keen to monitor the impact of forthcoming divestments and the emergence of new competitors in the changed world of post-crunch finance.

The survey, which commenced interviewing in January, will cover 5,000 start-up businesses, 8,000 established small businesses with up to £1m turnover, and 4,000 corporates with sales between £1m and £1bn.

In addition to gathering market share information, the survey provides comprehensive data on the attitudes of business customers to the products, service and delivery channels provided by their banks. Subscribers can customise analysis to suit their market positioning, and Charterhouse directors will provide dedicated support to each buyer.

Director and programme leader Mark Dennis says the launch follows nearly a year of development and discussions with the banks, and comments: 'The study is unique as it represents the definitive industry survey of the whole UK banking market. For the first time it will be possible to analyse bank service performance within any turnover range or key market sector that our subscribers wish to monitor'.

Based in Lombard Street in the City of London, the firm was established in 2004 by Mark Dennis, Julie Irwin, Sara McFadzean and Mervyn Flack, who worked together previously as directors of City Research Group Plc. To date, it has turned over around £5m in projects for 35 blue chip clients.

Charterhouse has also announced the appointment of former TNS exec Sharon Rees. The firm is online at www.charterhouse-research.co.uk .
