Mail's Focus on Fawcus

A UK research company founder is stepping into the limelight as the papers fill up with election news. Firefish's Jem Fawcus is to marry Clare Cameron, younger sister of the Tory leader, ten days before the election.

Britain's Daily Mail national paper says the wedding is 'likely to focus attention on the couple's eclectic group of friends' - the Mail seems keen to do so anyway. The paper picks up on good-humoured remarks made by Cameron to an accompanying journalist about a stag party where 'half the table was dry - either AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) or NA (Narcotics Anonymous)'. It also runs through the 'mixed bunch' that are Fawcus' friends, listed on his Facebook page, and hints darkly at his mention of 'listening to Motorhead' on the Firefish site, revelations which we doubt say anything very troubling about the possible PM-to-be's future brother-in-law, except that he might not be able to hear everything his wife says to him.

Fawcus, the son of Major-General Graham Fawcus, has reportedly known Clare Cameron - a close schoolfriend of Mick Jagger's daughter Jade - for 20 years but the couple have only been dating since last year and became engaged in the autumn.

David Cameron appears very pleased about the forthcoming addition to his close family, saying of Fawcus: 'He's lovely. He's so nice... I'm really excited about the news. I was on holiday with them in France this summer and think Jem is great.'

DRNO wishes the bride-and-groom-to-be every happiness in their life together.
