Limelight Buys Video Analytics Firm

In the US, audience engagement software company Limelight Networks has announced the acquisition of Delve Networks, a provider of cloud-based video publishing and analytics services.

Jeff LunsfordLimelight provides on-demand software, platform and infrastructure services to help clients reach and engage audiences online or on any mobile or connected device. The company paid for Delve with a combination of shares and cash, but terms were otherwise undisclosed.

Founded in 2006 and privately held, Seattle-based Delve's highly customizable software-as-a-service platform provides a suite of tools for publishing videos online, including hosting, encoding, channel and playlist management, video search, metrics and advertising. The tools promise clients help with extending their brand, increasing customer loyalty and thus improving their bottom line.

Following the deal, Limelight's global computing infrastructure and media delivery services will help Delve roll out its online video solution. In addition, Limelight says Delve's offering will complement and extend the value of its own mobility platform and EyeWonder in-stream video ad products.

Limelight Chairman and CEO Jeff Lunsford says his clients need 'scalable tools to easily and quickly publish their video and syndicate it to an ever-expanding list of web properties and connected devices'. The acquisition and combination of products will enable it to provide customers with 'an at-scale value-added solution for publishing online video, analyzing end-user preferences, and... monetizing their digital assets.'

Delve's founder and CEO Alexander Castro comments: 'By joining forces with Limelight Networks, Delve's cloud software platform, already designed for the high demands of Internet audiences, gains important Internet-scale infrastructure resources that can enhance the performance of our service'.
